I GOT A JOB!

OK, so this may be old news for some people as I've actually known for quite a while (a week) but I finally got a job! Fantastic! Actually, it took a whole lot less time than I was expecting. I thought that I'd be going through the whole interview/sucking up process until about mid-November, but, it turns out that the banks are keen to get offers out early, and, quite frankly, the novelty of all the interviewing was wearing rather thin, so I decided to throw in the towel and accept the offer. That's not to say that I'm not happy with my job, in fact, the offer I plan on accepting is with my top choice firm (CitiGroup) and in the tope department that I wanted to work for (Global Transaction Services) which is a division of their Corporate & Investment Banking Group. Officially I will be an "Analyst in Global Transaction Services" working out of their 388 Greenwich Offices in Tribecca, New York City. The group mainly does cash management for multinationals, but has a significant technology slant in that they have to provide internet based platforms for their cutomers to do transactions with, which is right down my alley and the same sort of thing I was working on at Standard Bank back in 2004. I'm thrilled to say the least! Click on any of the links above to get information on the bank as a whole or my group in particular.

I Got Slack

OK, so I got a little slack on the updates to the recruiting section of the website, as is usually the case with any section of this site. Well, the fact of the matter is that I stopped updating it because I was just so damn busy recruiting. That hasn't stopped yet, and I'm sure I should be doing some more applications right now, but needless to say, I've added a small update with all of the information I have thus far on how the process is going. Check it out…

Recruiting Recruiting Recruiting

It's all I seem to do these day - go to presentations, write applications. Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying all that on campus recruiting has to offer, but it's seriously hectic and has been taking it out of me. Click here for my OCR diary.

EXAMS ARE DONE!

Not for everyone at Penn, but I officially finished all of the work that I had to do for finals on Friday morning at around 2 am. I came to a strange conclusion this semester, if you don't party too much, and hence don't go out 3 or 4 nights a week, and in the time you gain not having a hangover actually pay attention in class and do your reading before class and all of your homework on time, then there really isn't a hell of a lot to do when it comes to finals. In fact, I'd say that I've had one of the most relaxing weeks of my life whilst everyone else has been sweating blood! granted, I did sit in front of my computer for about 30 hours straight, taking short breaks for food and water, in order to finish the two take home exams I had to to, but ten thousand (sense making) words later, and I was done. Candice is currently in San Francisco, she's doing one of those Contiki tours through Las Vegas, San Francisco and LA. She'll be back on Tuesday at which point I promise to post all of her photos, of which there are many, I hear. I've done a decent amount of Christmas shopping too during my relaxing exam time - have to keep everyone who is helping look out for Candice whilst she's here happy, which is why I've bought a lot of alcohol for them! Must get back to doing nothing now! Life is good! (I think this is the longest post i've ever done on the new site, interesting!)
